Unique lifestyles
Nestled against tall pines and the calming Atlanic shoreline, Shipyard is located in the scenic heart of Hilton Head Island's coveted south end. Here, residents can take advantage of spacious homes and villas with jaw-dropping custom layouts, along with high-caliber amenities and recreational facilities.
Though it may feel like a remote paradise, Shipyard is just a quick stroll or drive away from all of Hilton Head's top attractions, so you'll never have to travel far to find what you're looking for. The Property Owners Association (POA) for Shipyard Plantation governs the community's 255+ residential homes, 400 interval ownership units, and 1,000+ villas. And if you just want to visit, feel free to scope out one of the neighborhood's many rental homes or book a stay at the 388-room beachfront hotel.
Nearby golfing
Ready to work on your swing? Shipyard Golf Club is home to three nine-hole courses which showcase southern elegance and classic beauty. Here's a quick overview of each course:
- Sand and water hazards make the Clipper Course a formidable challenge for even the most seasoned golfers. This George W. Cobb design requires a soft touch on the green and plenty of patience overall.
- The Galleon Course is the original nine hole section of the Shipyard Golf Club. Accurate approach shots will help you overcome this course's guarded greens.
- It's not uncommon to see alligators sunning themselves along the water hazards of the Brigantine Course. Dog-legs and well-placed bumpers will help spice up a shorter game.
Tennis and recreation
Whether you see yourself relaxing on the beach, playing a round of tennis, or staying fit at the gym, you'll surely find something exciting to do when you live at Shipyard Plantation. One of the biggest highlights of this community is the Beach Club, a private stretch of coastline which features an adjoining residents-only clubhouse. Shipyard is also known for its on-site lagoons, marinas, pools, trails, fitness center, and boat rental facilities.
Believe it or not, Shipyard features one of the most recognized tennis resorts in the country. The Van der Meer Tennis Center was originally designed by Billie Jean King, and it's since been hailed as one of the “50 Greatest Tennis Resorts in America” by Tennis Magazine. Here, you'll find 20 clay courts, and you can also take private lessons.
Shopping and dining
If you want to take advantage of everything Hilton Head Island has to offer, go for a drive along US-278 to explore some of the area's best shopping and dining destinations. Highlights include Java Burrito Company, Bad Biscuit, and Hilton Head Ice Cream. Shipyard is also adjacent to Coligny Plaza Shopping Center and Circle Center.
